 Magallanes’ goose / Avutarda

The Magallanes’ goose, known also as avutarda can be found in big flocks (50 birds approximately) during autumn-winter. The hunting will be guaranteed in Buenos Aires province where a big amount of them come to winter crops. During the cool but magnificent mornings of the place would be very easy to shoot 10 or 20 geese per hunter a day. However it is very important to have the adequate camouflage.

For this kind of hunting, we drive to the west of Buenos Aires province, the ideal region for our purpose. The trip takes us one hour from our lodging.

Before sunrise, the hunters are positioned in the shooting places prepared by our guides. The guide will be on the alert to inform the hunters the direction in which the birds are coming, as they fly over very low and sometimes it is difficult to see their landing.

In case the hunters want to repeat this experience, we stay in a Hotel 20 minutes away from the geese fields. We can also alternate with pigeon or duck shooting during the evening and we repeat goose shooting in the following morning. There are no limits to hunt these kinds of birds in Buenos Aires because they are considered plague.
